Dark Tourism & Bullet Holes
Our latest poll (at the bottom of this post and in this previous Newsletter) finally yielded a winner, namely the theme that is also the title of this Newsletter, the one which had come second in the poll before that and was hence fielded again and this time made it. I uploaded the new Blog post of that title yesterday. The photo above was naturally taken from that new Blog post and shows an unfortunate soldier’s steel helmet that was penetrated by at least five bullets (on display at the war museum in Gori, Georgia). Do go and take a look at the full DT & Bullet Holes post! The poll result was much tighter this time around and the theme DT & Graffiti nearly made it to a draw, but ended up in second place losing by just one single vote. So because I would have voted for graffiti myself, I decided to pick this as the theme for the next Blog post, without another poll this time. But don’t worry, I won’t let this element of interaction slip out of memory again and will come up with another four theme choices for you to vote on in the not too distant future. Promise. I can’t say when, though, as I now have to make writing up the Taiwan chapters for my main website my priority. I’ve already drafted the DT & Graffiti post, though, and will upload that at some point in the coming weeks and I hope I may be able to slot in one more post before my summer travels. But no guarantees. Earlier today I did my duty and went to vote in the current EU elections, and I hope you have done so too, if you’re eligible (I know that no longer includes Brits, “thanks” to Brexit, nor other non-member-state citizens). I won’t disclose who/what I voted for but can only assure you it wasn’t for the far right. Nevertheless there are fears and forecasts that the far-right parties might do dangerously well, not least here in Austria. I hope not, but we’ll see.
So much for this time – and remember to check out the new Blog post DT & Bullet Holes!
Best wishes, Peter
