A Surprise & A New Media Article
Hello subscribers – and welcome new ones! Earlier today I uploaded a brand-new post on to the DT Blog. It basically has two parts. The shorter first part is about what you see in the photo above. Readers who’ve been subscribers for a while will recognize the design of that book. It is indeed another version/translation of my book Atlas of Dark Destinations. Earlier versions in other languages already appeared a while ago, in Spanish, Russian and Japanese (so I was told – I’ve never actually seen a copy in Japanese, though). And now this one. Three author’s copies arrived by post on Monday this week. That was quite out of the blue, I had no idea that this version was even in the pipeline. But can you guess what language that new version of my book is in? It’s that of a surprisingly small country. I would not have expected that to be deemed large enough a market for such a specialist niche book. But what country is that? Reply to this newsletter if you can answer that ;-) The other part of the new Blog post is about the online version of an article in the Cyprus Mail, the only English-language newspaper in Cyprus. As I had already announced I did an interview with them in early February. Now it’s come out in this form. It’s about dark tourism in general and also has a little special focus on Cyprus. I think it reads quite nicely. Some of the photos are a bit odd, though, in particular the one of me at a dark-tourism site. They had requested such photos, which is always a bit of a problem for me as I usually do not take selfies, so there aren’t that many halfway decent photos of myself in my archives. I dug out three, including the one ultimately chosen for the article. I then had second thoughts about that photo and asked them to pick one of the others. But they didn’t. Oh well. My mistake for having included that pic in the pack of photos in the first place. Fortunately I managed to finish all the new chapters for Cyprus (including North Cyprus) on my main website before the article came out. It’s sixteen new chapters in total. Well worth taking a look, as it’s in much more depth than the general Cyprus post earlier on the DT Blog. With that task out of the way, I can now embark on more Blog posts as well as quite overdue updates on my main website. Many articles are years old and desperately need to be brought up to date. But so much for this time. Best wishes, Peter
