DT & Christmas, End of the Year
Hi subscribers, I hope you had a good Christmas. I tried to contribute in my own small way with Thursday’s themed post “Dark Tourism & Christmas”, in which I presented a collection of twenty Christmas-related photos taken on my various trips during the festive season in a wide range of different places, including ones where you may not even have expected any Xmas deco at all (such as India). I hope you enjoyed that – or will, when you now look at it. The grim Santa, who looks a bit as if he's giving the Nazi salute, in the featured photo above was spotted in a hotel in Sri Lanka. This is the last newsletter of the year 2020 – and what a year this has been! Like no other ever before. The dominating topic, of course, was the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, and I hope in 2021 we will see the end of that. I, for one, would grab the earliest opportunity to get vaccinated. But I fear it will be a while until it can be my turn. There are obviously more urgent priorities than making me fit for resumed travelling. And so I also predict that I’ll have to postpone the envisioned Taiwan trip at Easter for another year. But I still hold out some hope that maybe the deferred Namibia trip can still go ahead in August 2021. Fingers crossed. In the new year I will also have another poll with a choice of topics for another themed blog post. Until then, have a good last few days of this year and then a Happy New Year. Stay safe. Best wishes, Peter
